Integrative Spirituality and Science
Many of the mind-body techniques Dr. McSweeney uses in her practice, such as meditation,
					biofeedback,
					and Energy Psychology,
have their roots in ancient spiritual traditions.  These
techniques are also currently being studied and validated by
the scientific community for their ability to positively
					alter brain activity.

					Today, with the use of
brain scans, science has been able to observe the effects of
trauma, depression, and other emotional states on brain
activity.  Likewise, there is now scientific evidence that
regular meditation practice does enhance brain functioning,
such as promoting frontal lobe activity which controls
motivation.  Energy Psychology techniques have been found to
"re-balance" the brain by reversing the effects of traumatic
experiences.  Biofeedback, which relies on the mental
focusing component of meditation, has been demonstrated to
lower heart rate, blood pressure, and improve circulation.
In these techniques, Western science and Eastern spiritual
practice come together to offer powerful tools for healing
					and self-awareness.
